This month the Montauk cod fishing has been excellent when we can get out due to the weather.  The cod fishing in Montauk Point was solid right from the start of month as expected from  the last few seasons success.

Montauk Cod Fishing Report For February 2010 Shows Promise For Future Stocks

Most of the Montauk cod fishing has been off southeast of Block Island which is the traditional fishing grounds for the cod’s migratory route from the Georges Banks to Block Island.  The cod fishing in February off Block island can see codfish from 8-15lb on Average with a few fish hitting the scales up to 40lbs traditionally.

This year we have seen a lot smaller fish which means good news for the future of Cod.  The average size Cod for February 2010 open boat trips have been in the low teens with some large mixed.

We have been limiting out on most of our trips throughout the month of February.
